Biography
Professor Theophilus Clavell Davies is a Research Professor (Environmental and Medical Geology), a Chartered Geologist and Environmental Consultant. His teaching and research activities encompass themes such as 'combating environmental health impacts of mining in Africa' and 'isolating and obviating the influence of geochemical co-factors in disease causation in Africa'.
His work includes field and laboratory studies and has led to a wide range of publications (over 200) in high-impact journals. He is the recipient of several distinguished fellowships and research awards, including the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship of Germany and the 2014 NMGS Shell Petroleum Award. He holds executive positions in a number of international geoscientific boards, such as Board Member of the UNESCO International Centre for Global-Scale Geochemistry, Regional Councillor for Africa of the Association of Applied Geochemists and (former) Councillor for Geoscience of the International Medical Geology Association.
