About the Association
A global community of applied geochemists advancing science across exploration, environment and analytical research since 1970.

Who we are
About the Association
The Association of Applied Geochemists (AAG) is a global community of applied geochemists working across exploration, environment, and analytical research. Founded in 1970, our mission is to advance the science and the people who practice it.

Our purpose
- Advance the science of geochemistry as it relates to mineral exploration and the environment
- Facilitate the acquisition, exchange and distribution of scientific knowledge
- Encourage research and development
- Sponsor symposia, seminars and technical meetings
- Support students in applied geochemistry
How we achieve it
- Publishes the journal Geochemistry: Exploration, Environment, Analysis (GEEA)
- Publishes the quarterly science newsletter EXPLORE
- Supports the journal Elements
- Leads the biennial International Applied Geochemistry Symposia (IAGS)
- Convenes regional meetings and co-sponsors meetings with other scientific societies
- Supports students with low membership fees and research and travel grants
- Provides access to specialized publications, lectures and podcasts

Regional Councillors
Regional Councillors connect with local universities, government agencies, and exploration companies to promote the interests of the AAG in their specific region.
How the work gets done
Committees & Coordinators
The Association's work is carried forward by dedicated committees and coordinators, each led by volunteer members from across the global geochemistry community.
Awards and Medals
Provides nomination and vetting for AAG awards and medals, and proposes new award opportunities.
Education
Supports the professional development of the next generation of geochemists.
Governance
Reviews and revises the Association's Bylaws, reviews the Code of Ethics, establishes a privacy policy, and creates a grievance process.

Working together
Affiliate Associations
The AAG collaborates with leading international geoscience organisations to advance shared scientific goals.
International Association of Mathematical Geosciences
A scientific organization serving an international community of mathematical geoscientists — mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists, geoinformaticians and earth scientists. IAMG is committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, fairness and democracy, with new statutes, a commission exploring the role of women in the IAMG, and awards for early career researchers and female scientists reflecting its ethical values in science.
