Biography

Dr. Wang Xueqiu received both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in exploration geochemistry from Changchun Geological College and his Ph.D. in geochemistry at Jilin University. He has worked as a geochemist, senior geochemist, chief geochemist, and research fellow at the Institute of Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration (IGGE), Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS), a director of the Key Laboratory of Geochemical Exploration of the Ministry of Land and Resources, and an Emeritus Professor at China University of Geosciences, Chang'an University, Jilin University and Chengdu University of Science and Technology.

He has over 30 years of experience in exploration geochemistry, geochemical mapping and global-scale geochemistry. He has been involved in deep-penetrating geochemistry for mineral exploration in transported cover terrains. He is project leader of China Geochemical Baselines, which documented concentration and distribution data of geochemical parameters covering China. He is co-leader of the IUGS/IAGC Task Group on Global Chemical Mapping project, the China-Mongolia Cooperation Geochemical Mapping project, and the Global-scale Geochemical Mapping Project.
